My main reason for creating this Pumpkin Mug Cake recipe is to bring a little joy to your life, because what’s cooler than a delicious cake that’s made and cooked in under 5 minutes?! Mug cakes are amazing! All you need is few simple ingredients (make my pumpkin pie spice if you don’t have any on hand) and they come together to make a fun treat for one, or two people, if you feel like doubling the recipe.
Ingredients Needed:
- Flour
- Sugar
- Baking Powder
- Cinnamon
- Pumpkin Spice
How to make Pumpkin Mug Cake:
- Add flour, sugar, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, and salt to a mug and stir together.
- Stir in milk, pumpkin, melted butter and vanilla extract until smooth, being sure to scrape the bottom of the mug. Stir in chocolate chips, if desired.
- Cook in microwave for 70-90 seconds* (until cake is just set, but still barely shiny on top). Allow to rest in microwave for 1 minute before consuming.
Pro Tips:
- Cook time: All microwaves are different so it’s difficult to give a precise cook time. Start with 70 seconds, wait 1 minute while it cools, then look to see if it is set. Add an additional 15-25 seconds if needed. Allow it to rest in the microwave for 1 minute.
- Keep in mind the cake will continue to cook as it cools off.

Very easy and very good. Loved the suggestion of the chocolate chips.
Tasty, quick and easy even with cooking squash myself (doesn’t take long). Will be making again.
Really pleased with this! Its very fast, very easy, and customizable for different tastes/diets. I used 2 tablespoons sugar and oatmilk for fewer calories than the original, and there’s no noticeable difference in flavor. I’ll be passing this recipe on to others. 🙂 Thank you!
This pumpkin mug cake was incredible!! It had the perfect soft texture, and I couldn’t believe how quick it was to make! I will be making this to satisfy my sweet tooth all Fall season!!
